General Partner, Azolla Ventures
Johanna Wolfson is a member of Evergreen Climate Innovations’ Investment Committee. Johanna is General Partner at Azolla Ventures as well as the co-founder and Principal at Prime Impact Fund where she identifies and evaluates investment opportunities, serves on company boards, and manages investments toward business and impact goals.
Prior to Prime, Johanna served as Director of Technology-to-Market in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (DOE EERE). Her work at DOE involved launching entrepreneurs and new businesses out of universities and National Labs and supporting early-stage start-ups with funding, training, and technical resources through management of Small Business Innovation Research and other programs.
Johanna also previously led Fraunhofer’s TechBridge program, where she worked with early-stage companies to de-risk their new technologies via industry-focused validation and demonstration projects.
She serves as a board member for Prime Impact Fund portfolio companies C-Motive Technologies, Verdox, and Sublime Systems, as well as on the Investor Advisory Board for the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority and the Leadership Council for Innovation Crossroads at Oak Ridge National Lab.
Johanna holds a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin and a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from MIT, where she conducted research on optics and solid-state physics.
